Zoe Tapper has said there are high hopes for Mr Selfridge emulating the success of Downton Abbey in the US.
The 32-year-old plays chorus girl Ellen Love in the ITV drama, which airs in the States at the end of March.
"I went out there to do a bit of promotional work and they're very excited," the actress said.
"It's lovely because they show their enthusiasm so much... Of course, Downton has also been a huge success out there, so they're hoping this will follow suit."
She added: "There's a real hunger for this sort of drama. It's escapist television; another age, another era, and it's quite glamorous.
"People have had their appetites whetted by the likes of Downton Abbey, and this follows on in the same sort of suit."
Zoe has recently tweeted that she won't be in the second series of the drama, penned by Andrew Davies.
