Taylor's wedding dress auctioned

Elizabeth Taylor's first wedding dress was sold at auction

Elizabeth Taylor's first wedding dress has been sold for 121,875 pounds at auction.

The gown that the late star wore for her first wedding to hotel heir Conrad "Nicky" Hilton Jr, when she was 18, went under the hammer in London.

Christie's director Nicolette Tomkinson said the sale price, more than double the highest estimate, reflected the gown's significance in the history of film and fashion.

Elizabeth wore the cream-coloured, seed pearl-encrusted satin dress - complete with waist-cinching built-in corset - to the first of her eight weddings in May 1950.

Hundreds of guests including Gene Kelly, Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire turned up, and studio MGM boasted that "more stars than there are in heaven" attended.

The couple divorced months later, and the actress went on to wed seven more times.

She died in 2011, aged 79.

Virgo:

You'll have to make an emotional appeal to your boss. Unless things change, you might have to find another job. You're a very tolerant person, but you can't handle toxic behaviour. A colleague who takes great pleasure in making everyone feel miserable should be reprimanded. Make it clear you aren't the only person who is suffering from their abuse. Explain how this bully is ruining morale. It's a system wide problem that needs to be nipped in the bud.More
