"I hope the two lowlife scumbags who did it reap what they sow #karma," she said.
Kate received messages of support from Emma Bunton, Natalie Appleton, Robbie Savage, Jill Halfpenny and Holly Willoughby among others.
The former X Factor and Loose Women presenter wrote that her day had been like "a bad episode of The Bill".
"Thanks for all your lovely tweets. Me and the kids are fine and the police were amazing. Just hope they catch the scumbags who did it x," she added.
She told This Morning presenter Holly: "Kids were scared, but probably because I screamed at the top of my lungs."
