Thrones star enjoys hair therapy

Sophie Turner loves getting into character on Game Of Thrones

Game Of Thrones star Sophie Turner has revealed the hours she spends having her hair and make-up done helps her get into character.

The 17-year-old actress plays Sansa Stark in the hit TV show, who is being held against her will and betrothed to the evil Crown Prince Joffrey Baratheon.

Sophie said: "It's really fun, and it's kind of therapeutic. The hairstyles are intricate and it takes about an hour to do the big ones.

"So it's kind of fascinating watching all these other departments contributing to one character and making her bit-by-bit come to life, and then you're the final piece. Then Sansa becomes Sansa.

"So when you're getting on the clothes you're one step further to becoming her. And they're gorgeous as well, the clothes, hair, the make-up - everything."

Sansa doesn't see as much action as some of the other female characters in the show, but Sophie insists she still has spirit.

She said: "I personally am not a damsel in distress, I'm pretty happy!

"But I like the way that Sansa is a bit different in that sense. She's not a sword-fighting bad-a** gal like Arya. I think it's good that we have a variation of characters. And I think Sansa is good to play in the way that she does her fighting subtly."

:: Game Of Thrones Season Two is out on DVD and Blu-ray on Monday March 4 and Season Three returns to Sky Atlantic on April 1, 2013.
