Tom Cruise reportedly sold his £2 million condo in New York City because there are too many “memories attached to it”.

The 50-year-old action star finalised his divorce from Katie Holmes last summer. The former couple share six-year-old daughter Suri together.

Tom was the owner of a 2,200 sq ft, two-bedroom condo with two bathrooms in the heart of the Big Apple’s exclusive East Village neighbourhood.

Several of his former spouses and lovers, including ex-wives Katie and Nicole Kidman, and girlfriends Cher and Rebecca De Mornay, apparently spent lots of time in the apartment.

He has sold the property, as the home makes him too sentimental.

"He just doesn't really need it anymore," a source told Us Weekly magazine.

"He's barely in the city... The only reason to keep it was when he had Suri and Katie and needed a real home in the city for them.

“It's got memories attached to it. He's human."

Tom is now said to be viewing other properties to purchase in Manhattan.

The star is also rumoured to be interested in buying a home outside the city.

"He liked the getaway he was able to do in the Hamptons with Suri, so it's not out of the question," the insider said.

Tom stars alongside Emily Blunt, Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Bill Paxton in director Doug Liman’s upcoming alien action movie All You Need Is Kill.

The film is released in US theatres March 7, 2014.
