Tom Hanks has joked about Halle Berry getting tied up during rehearsals for the sci-fi movie Cloud Atlas.
The Hollywood stars appear in the epic sci-fi drama Cloud Atlas. Halle had to shoot scenes for the film with a broken foot and admits it was a frustrating experience. The actress spent time in Scotland for the movie, and when asked if she had sampled any of the local delicacies she admitted she spent too much time having therapy on her injured limb to enjoy herself.
“Yes it was good there, even before and after I broke my foot Glasgow was good to me,” she said during an interview with UK TV show Daybreak. “No I didn’t [eat out], not as much as I would have liked with our schedule. When I came back I had a broken foot, so I was always somewhere in some therapy hemmed up in my room getting rubbed and buffed and tied up.”
Halle then laughingly added, “My foot was getting tied up, I mean!”
“And I would leave before the therapist arrived, that was just us rehearsing!” her co-star Tom cheekily interjected.
Cloud Atlas is based on the best-selling novel by David Mitchell and explores how individuals can impact one another in the past, present and future.
Halle, Tom and their co-stars had to play a series of different roles for the movie.
Tom has joked that while Halle looked stunning in every scene, he was less than impressed with his appearance.
“It is a staggering parade of my inequities, my physical inequities,” he laughed. “I look like various versions of my drunk father. My dad was not a drunk, he was a fine guy, but I just see my dad in every one of them.”
Tom also recalled feeling embarrassed when he failed to recognise Halle as he arrived on set early one morning.
“I came into the trailer once and there was this new white lady that was in the make-up chair. We had a number of people who would play parts for a week or so and so I said, ‘Hello, good morning, how are you?’ it was 6.15 and then I hear Halle say from beneath that character, ‘Well, hi Tom,’” the actor revealed. “I was like, ‘Oh my god, I am so sorry, I didn’t even recognise you!’ It was stunning.”
