Tom Hardy: I'm a father foremost

Tom Hardy says being a father has "grounded" him.

The British actor went off the rails when he was younger, being arrested for joyriding while in possession of a gun and becoming an alcoholic and drug addict. Tom sought treatment in a rehab facility and has gone on to carve out a successful Hollywood career, landing roles in movies such as The Dark Knight Rises.

The 34-year-old says his primary focus is his four-year-old son Louis and he has ruled out moving away from the UK.

"It's no longer about just you. I may be working away a lot but I'm working damned hard to make sure my boy is getting everything he needs," Tom is quoted as saying by British newspaper The Sun. "He lives mostly with his mum and I see him when I can. I'm not going anywhere because my little boy's here. The bottom line is that I'm someone's dad, first and foremost, and that's very grounding."

Tom is engaged to actress Charlotte Riley, but has confessed to experimenting with men in the past.

Although he may have been open to other types of relationships before, now he is only interested in settling down.

"I've played with everything and everyone. I love the form and the physicality. But now that I'm in my 30s it doesn't do it for me," he explained. "I'm done experimenting but there's plenty of stuff in a relationship with another man, especially gay men, that I need in my life."
