Tom Jones' return to The Voice 'confirmed' by will.i.am
Tom Jones is reportedly in "advanced negotiations" to return as a judge on The Voice U.K., with will.i.am appearing to confirm the claims with a quickly deleted tweet.
will.i.am appeared to confirm Tom Jones' comeback to The Voice U.K. on Wednesday night (06Jul16).
ritain's The Sun newspaper reported on Wednesday that the music legend is in "advanced negotiations" to return as a judge on the television talent show for the first series at its new home of ITV.
After the news broke, will.i.am, who recently confirmed he will be back for the next season, retweeted a fan account and added his own message by writing: "I'm happy tom jones is back!!! #truePALs #theORIGINALS."
However, after perhaps realising he shouldn't have apparently confirmed Tom's comeback, will was quick to delete the message.
A spokesperson for the show said that the coaching line-up will be revealed "in due course".
According to The Sun, Tom is close to signing on the dotted line to join will in the famous red chairs when the show returns to television screens later this year (16).
"Tom is keen to get back on the show - something he wouldn’t have been if it was still on the BBC rather than ITV," a source told the publication. "It’s being seen as a masterstroke to get him back as he’s worked with them all - including Elvis Presley - and commands respect."
However, the recent death of his wife Lady Melinda Rose Woodward is said to be a deciding factor in Tom's decision on whether to return.
“The only thing that’s holding him back is whether it’s too soon after his wife’s death and whether that makes it the right decision,” the source added.
If Tom and will were to return, there would still be two judging positions to fill, after Culture Club frontman Boy George recently confirmed he is not coming back for a second stint on the series. Paloma Faith also appeared to confirm she would not be returning after tweeting in April (16): "I went down with the ship power dressing in possibly my last foray into reality TV shows."
