Top Gear fans want Jeremy Clarkson at Belfast show
Top Gear fans will ask for refunds if Jeremy Clarkson is not part of the forthcoming shows at Belfast's Odyssey Arena, it has been claimed.
A flurry of worried fans took to social media and called the Odyssey to check on the future of the five Top Gear Live shows planned for May 22-24 after the BBC issued its statement that the presenter's contract would not be renewed.
A spokeswoman for Brand Events, which promotes the tour in conjunction with BBC Worldwide, confirmed last night that the shows were not cancelled but added: "In light of today's announcement, everything is being reviewed, including possible refunds, but we are not in a position to say anything further at this stage."
Belfast woman Nicola Bothwell tweeted her concern and asked: "So what happens to shiny new ad campaign I noticed on billboards/buses today, does BBC's Top Gear Live go ahead in Belfast without him?".
A local user tweeted Jeremy Clarkson directly and asked "What's the news on the top gear live show, looking forward to seeing you but if your (sic) not there then its not Top Gear" while another said that his father-in-law would ask for a refund if Clarkson was not part of it.
The Odyssey confirmed that the show's ticket sales had been "going well" and promised that they would inform ticket holders as soon as there was any news forthcoming from the Top Gear Live organiser.
