Tracy Morgan wasn’t afraid to address his horrific car accident during his hosting stint on SNL.

Tracy Morgan's Saturday Night Live return felt good after the comedian's horrific car accident last year (14).

The funnyman found the love and support he received during his SNL comeback “electric” as returned to host the comedy skit show in America on Saturday (17Oct15). It marked his first major TV gig since he was seriously injured in a car crash in June last year (14), and Tracy admits he was overwhelmed by the response he got from his friends and fans.

“It was magical," he told ET Online. "It was electric, the love and support. It was great being back home hanging with the cast and crew. It was great."

Tracy featured on SNL for seven years before finding a new home at Tina Fey's hit TV comedy 30 Rock and in movies like The Longest Yard and animated hit Rio. His former co-stars from the hit NBC show came out to support him, including Fey, Alec Baldwin, Jane Krakowski, and Jack McBrayer.

“They were so supportive,” he added. “It felt good, just to be funny."

Tracy didn’t shy away from talking about the tragic accident that killed one of his good friends and left him in a coma for two weeks when the Mercedes Sprinter bus he was travelling in was struck by a Walmart truck. He broke his leg, femur, nose and several ribs and had to walk with a cane for several months during his rehabilitation.

“It was awful, but it also showed me how much love and support I have in this world," he said in his opening monologue. "People were wondering: Can he speak? Does he have 100 per cent mental capacity? But the truth is, I never did. I might actually be a few points higher now."

As well as his turn on SNL Tracy has also returned to the stage this month (Oct15). He completed a stand-up show at the Comedy Cellar in New York on 12 October (15) and couldn’t wait to share his joy on social media.

"My first time on stage in 16 Months at the #ComedyCellar! Picking up the pieces! (sic)," he captioned an image of himself at the venue on Twitter.
