Tracy Morgan and his fiancée Megan Wollover are "over the moon excited" about their new arrival.

The 44-year-old American comedian and the 25-year-old model have announced they are expecting their first child together.

Tracy's award-winning US TV show 30 Rock ended this month after seven seasons and he is quickly diving into the next chapter of his life.

The star, who is already father to three grown sons from previous relationships, can't wait to meet his new child.

"I am over the moon excited and just want a happy and healthy baby and a safe delivery for Megan," Tracy told People magazine.

Tracy recently revealed to Rolling Stone magazine he wanted to have a daughter.

"You know what happiness is? Happiness is a simple thing, man," he told the publication.

"It's having something to look forward to."

During the same interview, Tracy spoke about his fondness for animals.

He was happy to discuss some of the unusual artefacts inside his New Jersey home, among them one of the sparkly gloves worn by late singer Michael Jackson encased in glass. The comedian also has pet sharks and snakes.

"That is a black African python," he said. "She's really nasty. Two years ago, one of those ate an 11-year-old boy in Africa."

The property also boasts a painting featuring several funny men - including Charlie Chapman, Bernie Mac and Richard Pryor - as the apostles at the last supper.

Tracy announced his engagement to Megan last September.
