TV Bake Off finalists in the mix

The finalists for the Great Comic Relief Bake Off have been revealed, with Victoria Wood admitting she is "desperate" to win the charity contest.

The comic will face fellow comedienne Jennifer Saunders, TV presenter Gok Wan and actor Michael Sheen on Red Nose Day when the stars attempt to bake their way to victory.

Wood won star baker award on last night's episode, beating model Alexa Chung, former Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles and comic Kayvan Novak.

On entering the famous tent, Wood could not hide her competitiveness, admitting: "I know you're meant to say 'no no no, it's all about Comic Relief'. But I'm desperate to win, which is the sad truth."

Her success was said to be down to the final challenge, with judge Paul Hollywood saying: "The moment for Victoria was the showstopper. It went the way she wanted it to go."

When asked how she felt about winning, Wood said: "I'm very happy to have won, I was very surprised though."

The contestants had to make a traybake with 12 identical slices, and none of them got off to a particularly good start - it took Moyles 10 minutes to measure out his cocoa.

Next up was the technical challenge when the bakers were tasked with producing 12 crumpets, and finally the showstopper challenge where it was all to play for as the bakers had to make a vegetable "selfie" cake.
