Danny Dyer said he has been a "typical man" about his forthcoming summer wedding by leaving the preparations to his fiancee.

The EastEnders star, who has become a favourite with viewers as Mick Carter, opened up about his imminent marriage to childhood sweetheart Joanne Mas.

During an interview with Hello! magazine, the 38-year-old actor revealed he will have a Spanish-themed wedding in the English countryside.

But he is not in charge of the big day. "I have been a typical man about the wedding," the Londoner said.

"I have left it to the missus. At this stage, I am just a guest. I don't even know the postcode!"

Dyer's long-term partner surprised him last year when she popped the question on Valentine's Day.

The couple, who met at school when they were both 14, have three children together: Dani, 19, Sunnie, almost nine, and two-year-old Arty.

Their long relationship has survived several obstacles, including Dyer's past infidelity.

"I thought the grass was greener, but the grass was horrible and I don't ever want to go there again," he told Hello! in 2015.

A real-life East Ender, Dyer was born in Canning Town and, like many of the characters in the BBC One soap, is a staunch supporter of West Ham United Football Club.

Castmates from EastEnders will be among the 150 guests at his wedding.

"I am inviting all of my Carter clan because I love them all dearly," he said.

"Putting the guest list together makes you re-evaluate who your real friends are, and most of my closest friends now are from the cast."

Actors Kellie Bright (who plays Dyer's on screen wife Linda), Maddy Hill (Mick's daughter Nancy), Danny-Boy Hatchard (Mick's son Lee), Linda Henry (Dyer's on screen mother Shirley) and Luisa Bradshaw White (Mick's aunt Tina) will join him on his special day.

The Sweeney's Ray Winstone, a fellow East Ender and West Ham fan, is also on the list.

The wedding will have a Spanish theme because Mas's father Bartolome is from Majorca.

"There will be a Gypsy Kings-type band, flamenco dancers, tapas, paella and sangria," she said, before adding: "I am still working on Julio Iglesias!"

Little Arty will wear a matador costume for his role as chief pageboy.

The couple will also pay tribute to Dyer's East End roots and his love for West Ham.

"He is the most cockney person I have ever met, but I don't want him to come dressed as a pearly king," Mas joked.

"I may get some bubble machines though and insist that everyone sings I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles (West Ham's club anthem)."

Dyer, who has been acting since he was a teenager, won critical acclaim for his portrayal of a football hooligan in 2004 film The Football Factory.

Since his first appearance as The Queen Vic landlord in 2013, Dyer has won several awards and accolades.

His most recent came in January when he walked home with the best serial drama performance gong at the National Television Awards.
