Van Der Beek 'slams US government'
James Van Der Beek is frustrated with Congress amid threats of a shutdown of the US government.
The actor is upset about tension between political parties in Congress as votes to defund the nation’s new healthcare system and to raise the country’s debt ceiling loom.
The star took to Twitter to express his views on Friday, frustrated with the potential outcome.
“Anyone else fail to see the virtue in: "If at first you don't succeed, obstruct until you get your way or we all shut down"? #Congress,” he wrote.
“I get that people have strong views, but at some point, governance requires compromise, no?” he continued in another post.
The 36-year-old former Dawson’s Creek star has over 250,000 followers on the micro-blog and many echoed his sentiment
“@vanderjames Some people mistake government for some sort of team sport. They think they must "win",” one follower responded.
“@vanderjames Hello..... PREACH!...” another wrote in part.
James’ comments marked a more serious turn in topic for the actor, who recently gushed to America’s People magazine about expecting his third child with wife Kimberly Brook.
“I feel ridiculously blessed. I feel so much love, honestly,” the star said last month, admitting he’s feeling a little nervous about their new arrival.
“I was told two was three times as hard as one, and that three is actually not as big of a leap,” he laughed. “If anybody knows otherwise, I’m going to ask them not to tell me."
