Vanessa Lachey finds being a mother to two children “surreal”.

The 34-year-old model and presenter has two children with husband Nick Lachey – two-year-old son Camden and three-month-old daughter Brooklyn.

And during an appearance on The Today Show on Tuesday, Vanessa admitted she finds it difficult to comprehend her family set up.

“It's still very surreal to me that I'm a mother of two,” Vanessa said. “It's not really hit me yet. I'm still evolving as a woman and a mother.”

Vanessa first started dating former 98 Degrees singer Nick after starring in his music video What’s Left of Me back in 2006. The pair hit it off, got engaged in November 2010 and married in July 2011. They are now happier than ever.

Stunning Vanessa looked incredible as she arrived for her interview in New York on Tuesday, showing off her long legs and enviable post-baby body in a black miniskirt, white shirt and strappy sandals.

During the chat, Vanessa explained that becoming a mother has also helped to make her more empathetic towards other parents.

Recalling a recent flight she was on that also had a crying baby on board, Vanessa admitted she was desperate to “go back and hug them”.

“You just have this empathy,” she said. “It was the first time travelling with neither of my children.”

Vanessa recently revealed that despite being just three months old, Brooklyn is growing up incredibly fast and already recognises her mother.

“She’s starting to do the facial recognition, the smile, and it’s killing me,” Vanessa told People magazine last month. “I say, ‘Hi Brooklyn,’ and she smiles back and I love it. I love it because I know she knows she sees me.”
