Ventriloquist Keith Harris: I lost £7m over my dyslexia

Ventriloquist Keith Harris has revealed he lost a £7m fortune because his dyslexia meant he could not read contracts.

The 66-year-old, who found fame in the 1980s with his puppet sidekick Orville the Duck, said he was dubbed "thick" at school and never learned to read.

It meant he was duped into signing unfavourable contracts and still continues to work today despite recovering from a severe form of cancer in the spleen.

Harris, who lives in Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire, with 48-year-old wife Sarah and their two children, told the Mail on Sunday: "I've made about £7m throughout my career, but I've lost it all too. It's all down to the dyslexia."

Virgo:

Read the fine print on a contract. If you're not happy with the proposed terms of a deal, renegotiate. Don't be afraid to drive a hard bargain. You may not realise it, but you have a great deal of power. People are willing to pay good money for someone with your intelligence and experience. If you undersell yourself, you will set a dangerous precedent. Someone will ask you to do something that goes against your conscience. Obey your principles, even if it means making an enemy.More
