Vin Diesel thinks there’s “something special” about his role in new film The Last Witch Hunter because he’s showing a whole new side of himself professionally speaking.

The 48-year-old actor and his girlfriend Paloma Jimenez welcomed their third child, baby Pauline, in March of this year.

And the little girl is getting her head in the books early on, according to Vin.

“Just yesterday she went to the New York Library for the first time, you know in all of her four-month glory, and she very much enjoyed it, she was reading up a storm,” he smiled to Extra. “It’s heaven, it’s heaven for her, even though she’s so young, just her experience in the city that I grew up in, in the city is that’s so much a part of me… is an awesome thing.”

Vin is currently promoting his new fantasy film The Last Witch Hunter, which also stars Elijah Wood.

The star is most known for taking on roles in high-octane action movies like Furious Seven.

His part in The Last Witch Hunter is a huge departure from that type of work and Vin appreciates being able to show a new side of himself to fans.

“Totally a different role… people are always so loyal to the characters I’ve played, and yet there’s always this demand to continue to give birth to new franchises and these new iconic characters,” he explained. “Finding these characters that are in league with all those other characters is never easy, so when I did come across this character, I was really excited when I saw the opportunity for something special.”

The Last Witch Hunter reaches American theatres October 23.
