Vin Diesel pays tribute to Paul Walker
Vin Diesel was told by a crew member of Fast 8 that late actor Paul Walker would be proud of the work they are doing.
Vin Diesel has paid tribute to his late friend Paul Walker as filming begins on the latest installment in the Fast and Furious movie saga.
Paul was a passenger in a Porsche driven by his friend Roger Rodas, who also died, when it hit a pole and burst into flames in November 2013. He was 40 years old.
Filming had yet to be finished on 2015's Furious 7 when Paul died, leaving his brothers Cody and Caleb Walker to step in to film his character Brian's remaining scenes.
Now filming has begun on the eighth installment of the car thriller franchise, Fast 8, his co-star and close friend Vin paid tribute to him on social media.
Sharing a shot of the pair smiling on Instagram on Saturday (21May16), he wrote that Paul would be proud of what the cast and crew are trying to achieve on the new movie.
"Many of the crew members who have worked on several of the past Fast films are here again to help us make something special. One of them at the end of the week came up to me and said wow what we are capturing on film is excellent... And then looked at me and said Paul would be proud. #wemakethemwithourhearts," the 48-year-old action star wrote.
Vin, who is reprising his role as Dominic Toretto in the new Furious movie, hinted at being in a dark place earlier this week. In a video posted on Instagram on Thursday (19May16), he revealed that he was using his workouts in the gym to try and escape the emotions he had while getting into character.
"Coming into shooting Fast 8 I knew it was going to be a darker road," he said in the video while he was sitting alone in a gym. "It's amazing regardless of how successful you are that you have to go into a dark place to channel a character, to feel the character. So, I'm grateful that I have this gym here to escape in, and kind of balance my emotions, so that I can be effective but try not to take the pain with me."
Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Michelle Rodriguez are all returning for Fast 8, alongside new cast members Scott Eastwood and Charlize Theron, who will play the movie's villain.
Fast 8 is set for release in April, 2017.
