Vin Diesel remembers Paul Walker at The Fate of the Furious premiere
Paul died in 2013 before filming had finished on Furious 7.
Vin Diesel remembered his late co-star Paul Walker at The Fate of the Furious premiere.
The world premiere of the eighth instalment of the action thriller saga took place on Saturday (08Apr17) at New York's Radio City Music Hall, and there was a special mention for Walker, who starred in six Furious films until his shock death in 2013.
The actor died aged just 40 after the Porsche Carrera GT he was travelling in crashed into a lamp post and two trees in Santa Clarita, California in November, 2013.
Diesel, who co-produced and stars in The Fate of the Furious, introduced the film in New York by telling the audience that every scene was shot with Walker in mind, and said Walker's mother Cheryl and daughter, Meadow Rain, were present for the screening.
"We'd like to say the last one is for Paul and this one is from Paul," rapper-turned-actor Ludacris told reporters on the red carpet. "We wanted to make the best movie possible."
Walker died midway through shooting on Furious 7, and his brothers Caleb and Cody were used to complete his remaining scenes.
Among the other attendees at Saturday's premiere were Jason Statham and his fiancee Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who had her baby bump on full display in a tight-fitting black dress with a thigh-high split.
The 29-year-old and her 49-year-old British action star beau announced their baby news in February (17).
Dwayne Johnson and Michelle Rodriguez also walked the red carpet at the New York premiere, where the former wrestler told reporters he "redirected a torpedo with his bare hands" in the movie.
The stars later jetted off to Los Angeles for another screening, where the film's stars Charlize Theron and Elsa Pataky attended.
