Vorderman: No X Factor in food show

Carol Vorderman hosts new show Food Glorious Food

Carol Vorderman has promised there will be no X Factor-style showdowns in new cooking competition Food Glorious Food.

The show, made by Simon Cowell's production company Syco and styled as a cross between The X Factor and The Great British Bake Off, sees contestants from around the country compete to wow judges with their best home-cooked dish.

But host Carol insisted Food Glorious Food is "not competitive".

"This is not X Factor - it has a very different, very British feel, it's kind of eccentric. I know it's a competition, but it's very gentle and even those people that don't get through or even don't get rosettes, tend to be very happy. There's no tears at bedtime!"

The show features a variety of interesting contestants, from the oldest - 92-year-old Eunice from Cornwall - to the naked chef.

Carol said: "That was a bit dangerous. He was wearing an apron and was filmed from the back quite a bit, but I refused to go and stand next to him!"

:: Food Glorious Food starts on Wednesday, February 27 on ITV

Taurus:

No matter how stringently your loved ones warn you, that won't stop you pursuing a romantic interest. You're utterly captivated by someone who exudes warmth, charisma and drama. The two of you get along very well, but beware of the financial toll this relationship will take. The object of your affection likes expensive things. If you're not able to provide them with the luxuries they crave, there will be problems. Then again, you have the potential for being a good provider, so all may be well.More
