Wahlberg: Flashy cars are the best
Mark Wahlberg appreciates flashy cars because he grew up poor.
The actor has taken over from Shia LaBeouf in the Transformers franchise and will hit screens as Cade Yeager in latest instalment Age of Extinction.
Cars that change into robots are the premise of the sci-fi films and in real life Mark is just as taken with vehicles.
"Nice cars are something special for me because I grew up poor," he explained to German magazine TV Movie. "Now my motto is: The flashier, the better!"
The 43-year-old is slowly moving away from playing the romantic lead. In Transformers he takes on the role of a mechanic father, whose family also joins the Autobots in their battle.
"I'm not the youngest anymore, I have four kids!" he exclaimed. "So I found it easy to take on the part of overbearing father."
Mark and his model wife Rhea Durham have Ella, ten, Michael, eight, Brendan, five, and four-year-old Grace together. The actor doesn't mess around when it comes to raising them.
"My character in the movie is strict, but in private I'm even stricter," he assured the publication.
At four and ten, his daughters are still some way from their teenage years. However, Mark already fears having to deal with adolescents.
"I'm dreading the teenage years with my daughters; it's not going to be easy for them to go on a date," he recently laughed to People.
"My boys are obsessed with everything sports. The first thing out of their mouths in the morning when their eyes are barely open is, 'Dad, did the Clippers win?'"
