Walsh: British X Factor still best
Louis Walsh has predicted that this year's series of The X Factor will trump the US version of the TV talent contest.
The music mogul said show creator Simon Cowell's absence won't damage the new UK series, which kicks off on ITV on Saturday.
He told The Sun: "This show is going to be much bigger and better than the US version.
"[Simon] left American Idol and it continued to be a huge success. Now he's gone from the UK X Factor but we are going to show him that it's not about him - it's all about the talent."
Outspoken Louis, who is joined by new judges Tulisa Contostavlos, Kelly Rowland and Gary Barlow, added: "I don't think Simon is going to be involved in the series at any stage."
Meanwhile, the Irish judge was apparently forced to rethink his decision to name a pet cat after fellow panellist Tulisa - because it turned out to be male.
The Daily Star reports that Louis was keen to call the stray cat - found in his garden at home - after the feisty N-Dubz star until he realised the gender mix-up.
