Louis Walsh has compared The X Factor judging panel to a pop band.
The Westlife manager said that he and fellow judge Dannii Minogue were like backing singers in Simon Cowell's band.
He told The Graham Norton Show: "It's like Simon is the lead singer and we are three backing singers. It's the Simon Cowell show featuring Cheryl Cole... and then there's me and Dannii."
Louis, who has confessed that he dyed his hair to look younger on the show, defended his catchphrases, saying: "I've come up with some new lines for this year - 'likeability' was a new one for this year - it sort of says everything."
Asked about the US version of The X Factor, Louis, whose X Factor acts included supermarket worker Mary Byrne and flamboyant Brazilian singer Wagner, said: "Simon is probably onto the biggest show in America, ever."
Louis appears on The Graham Norton Show on BBC One tonight (Dec 31).
