Washington ‘gives birth’

Kerry Washington has reportedly welcomed a baby girl.

The actress and husband Nnamdi Asomugha welcomed daughter Isabelle Amarachi on Monday April 21, but kept the new arrival secret for two weeks, America’s People magazine reports.

This is a first child for both Kerry and Nnamdi, who got married in a secret ceremony last July.

“Kerry is at home busy with the baby,” a source confirmed to the outlet.

The Scandal star announced her pregnancy in October and first showed off her bump at the Golden Globes red carpet in January.

“I have the best date of the night — my little accessory,” she said at the time. “I mean, Louboutins are great but this is the best accessory, I think this year. I feel really, really blessed. It just feels like a really good time,” she said.

Kerry’s pregnancy was not written into her Scandal storyline, so her baby bump had to be disguised for the US drama, causing a few issues with wardrobe.

Fortunately the team was supportive and very happy for the 37-year-old actress, whose co-stars were thrilled to hear she was going to be a mother.

"She's already a mom. She already mothers all of us. She's very Olivia Pope to us, making sure we're all taken care of and happy," Darby Stanchfield, who plays Abby Whelan, told E! News. "She's really glowing. She's really happy. She's genuinely so looking forward to this moment, so it's fun to share in it with her."
