Watch: Celtic superfan Jay Beatty meets Rod Stewart at Belfast gig

Published 15/11/2016

It was a meeting of two legends - as Celtic superfan Jay Beatty met Rod Stewart backstage at the Scottish rocker's Belfast gig.

Both die-hard Hoops supporters, the 71-year-old singer dedicated his hit You're In My Heart to the Lurgan youngster.

Jay (12), first came to public attention in 2015 when he won the Scottish Professional Football League's 'Goal of the Month' accolade after Celtic invited him on to the pitch at half-time to take a penalty against rivals Hamilton.

Jay is most famously known for his relationship with former Celtic striker Giorgios Samaras.

Samaras carried Jay around Parkhead for Celtic's lap of honour after winning the SPL in May, 2014.

The Celtic fans loved him, and since then the inspiring Lurgan lad has rarely been out of the headlines.

Jay's dad Martin posted the videos on his Facebook page after the Co Armagh pupil and his family were guests of the legendary musician at the first of two concerts at the SSE arena on Monday night.
