Webbe gets Strictly image right

Simon Webbe has revealed how he has been getting his ballroom look just right ahead of his Strictly Come Dancing debut.

The Blue singer is part of this year's line-up of celebrities for the hit BBC dancing contest and said he had been taking his fitness seriously, as well as his outfits.

Simon took up boxing training to get in shape a while ago and said he thought the footwork could help him: "I started the boxing purely for the fact that I was unfit. I was overweight.

"Coming into this show I heard it was vigorous on your body, so it suits me down to the ground. I was training three times a day."

The boyband star donned a skin-tight sequinned ensemble for the show's launch red carpet, but admitted it wasn't his usual attire.

He said: "I'm more of a tracksuit guy, I'm not really into things that are so tight fitting.

"But that's what it's all about - the sparkles, the footwork, and it's also about learning a new craft and the sacrifices we have to make, like putting on tight outfits."

Simon added that he'd had a great time getting to know the show's professional dancers: "I got to do the salsa with every single one of them. It was like a dream come true, to be fair."

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on September 7 at 8pm.
