Doctor Who's Karen Gillan is to make her theatre debut with a leading West End role.
Karen, who plays the Time Lord's sidekick Amy Pond in the BBC One series, is to star in a new production of Inadmissible Evidence at the highly regarded Donmar Warehouse.
Earlier this year she filmed a role as the model Jean Shrimpton in a BBC4 film which looked at her relationship with photographer David Bailey in the swinging sixties.
Her new stage role sees her return to the sixties in a production dating back to 1964, written by John Osborne, the playwright best known for Look Back In Anger.
The Scottish actress will play secretary Shirley, one of many women abused by solicitor Bill Maitland (Douglas Hodge) who then turn on him.
Gillan's role was first played on stage by Dame Eileen Atkins. The drama also features Esther Hall, familiar to TV audiences as the mum from the long-running BT ads.
The production runs from October 13 to November 26 and is part of the farewell season for the Donmar's artistic director Michael Grandage who is stepping down in December after a decade.
