Williams: Mother’s Day gift should amaze

Vanessa Williams

Vanessa Williams hopes her children will surprise her with a dinner on Mother’s Day this coming Sunday.

The 50-year-old actress has four children, including Melanie, 25, Jillian, 23, Devin, 20, and Sasha, 13.

Vanessa is so busy performing a matinee of Broadway play The Trip to Bountiful on Sunday that she will have no time to relax and enjoy her special day.

"I have a 3 o'clock matinee. No rest for the weary," Vanessa told People. "Maybe my kids will surprise me with a dinner afterward."

Vanessa co-stars on Broadway with Cuba Gooding Jr. and Cicely Tyson.

The star also had a Mother’s Day message for The Duchess of Cambridge, who is expecting her first child this summer.

"Motherhood is one of the greatest gifts and surprises in life," she declared. "You always have to be prepared for the unexpected. You have to be able to surrender to whatever situation it is and do the best you can at any moment. I think she’ll be a terrific mum.”

Meanwhile, the one-time Miss America is campaigning for heart disease awareness. Both of her grandmothers died after battling the illness.

"I'm very, very aware of heart health," she said. "I'm very mindful of my diet and exercise, and I think being a woman, you have to be. I'm a mother of four, I just turned 50 this year, and I want to be around for a long time."

Trust your intuition about a domestic matter. If you think it's time to get a new place, start looking for one. You could find a home that cultivates tranquillity and relaxation. Escaping the fray will be a relief. Although you enjoy socialising, you also crave private time. Being able to watch movies, read books and listen to music replenishes your batteries. A needy relative could request help. This would be a good time to establish some healthy boundaries. Stop dropping everything for this relative's benefit.More
