Wilson: Elba has harder Luther role

Ruth Wilson says her Luther scenes are fun to film

Ruth Wilson has said she thinks Idris Elba gets the rougher end of the deal in filming Luther.

Idris recently admitted he found it difficult to shake off some of the disturbing scenes he'd filmed when he got home, but Ruth reckoned she had none of the same problems.

She said: "I think my character's a bit more fun and has a bit more fun in it. Actually, despite her not being the purest of characters, she enjoys what she does and she sees the world slightly differently from everyone else.

"So he has to deal with all the hard stuff, all those images. I don't have to so he's got the tougher job in that respect."

Ruth, who plays Alice Morgan in the BBC series, also hinted the Luther film that show creator Neil Cross has said previously will follow the third series could be coming soon.

Asked whether another series would be possible, she said: "I don't know. It's got such a great fan base, it's sad to let that go really and they're such great characters but we'll see what everyone's feeling, how Idris feels, how Neil Cross feels, how the team feel and there might be some other forms, we'll see."

Ruth can be seen in Disney film The Lone Ranger with Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer, released in cinemas on August 9.
