Winslet pumped through earthquake
Kate Winslet managed to keep using her breast pump when an earthquake hit Los Angeles yesterday.
The 38-year-old actress already has kids Joe and Mia from her previous marriages and welcomed her first child with her husband Ned Rocknroll, baby boy Bear, in December last year.
Yesterday an earthquake rattled Los Angeles and Kate was in the middle of mommy duties when she felt the ground move beneath her.
“I’ve never been in an earthquake. No, never. And so it’s 6.20 something or other and I’m sitting in the hotel here in LA and I’m pumping because I have a 14-week-old baby,” she laughed to Ellen DeGeneres. “I’m here for 48 hours I couldn’t bring him. It’s too far. It’s a 12-hour plane ride. And so I’m pumping, staring at my beautiful picture of my beautiful baby boy and my husband is on the other line and the room starts to shake."
Luckily the 4.4-magnitude quake didn't cause significant damage.
The Titanic star managed to keep her cool all the way through and never once let go of her pump.
“So I said [to Ned on the phone], 'I’ve got to go. I got to call you back.' Hung up, ran into the doorframe with my friend who was with me and she’s like, 'It’s an earthquake...' Don’t worry, [sound of pump] it’s passing, see it’s passing, it’s gonna pass [sound of pump] see it's passed, see it’s almost gone. Breath, it’s fine [sound of pump]. I just carried on pumping through the whole entire thing.”
Kate is currently promoting her latest movie ventures, drama Labor Day and sci-fi action flick Divergent.
She was recently honoured with a star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame to mark her work in the film industry.
