X Factor has been shunned by TV fans in favour of rival BBC shows The Voice and Strictly Come Dancing in the nominations for the National Reality TV Awards 2015.

ITV's talent show, created by music mogul Simon Cowell, missed out on nominations in the best entertainment show and best reality competition show categories for the fifth annual awards, which are voted for by viewers.

The categories will instead be battled out by shows including The Voice, Britain's Got Talent, Strictly Come Dancing and Love Island - all of which were nominated for both awards.

X Factor's judging panel also failed to score points with the public.

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Cowell are noticeably absent from the best reality TV judge category, a title which The Voice's, Great British Bake Off's Paul Hollywood, and Britain's Got Talent's Alesha Dixon and David Walliams will compete for.

But X Factor did manage three nominations for best performance on a reality TV show.

There was also a nomination for Sarah-Jane Crawford in the best presenter category for her role on ITV2 spin-off show Xtra Factor.

Last year, X Factor lost the ratings battle to Strictly Come Dancing, prompting a shake-up of the show's format for the upcoming 12th series.

Fernandez-Versini and Cowell will be joined by Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw, and pop star Rita Ora when the show airs at the end of the month.

They came on board after veteran Louis Walsh and Spice Girl Mel B left the judging panel.

Presenter Dermot O'Leary will be replaced by Caroline Flack and Olly Murs - a former contestant on the show - and The Saturdays star Rochelle Humes and DJ Melvin Odoom will replace Crawford on the Xtra Factor. The Apprentice will go head-to-head with Dragons' Den in the best business show and most inspiring TV show categories.

Rival structured reality shows The Only Way is Essex and Made in Chelsea will face each other in the best entertainment show, reality non-competition show, and reality personality of the year categories.

Viewers can vote for the awards at from August 18 to September 20. The awards ceremony will take place on September 30 at Porchester Hall in London.
