X Factor winner song charity track?

Simon Cowell is reportedly planning to make The X Factor winner's single a charity record this year

Simon Cowell is set to heat up the battle for the Christmas number one by making The X Factor winner's single a charity track, according to reports.

In previous years, the finalists sing a charity record together while the winner of the ITV1 show releases a separate record in the run-up to Christmas.

But The Sun said that Simon, 53, wanted to make the winner's single the only charity release instead this year.

A source was quoted as saying: "We do a charity record every year but the current thinking is we should just make that the winner's single.

"It would make loads of cash for charity and it will bring festive cheer back to the Christmas number one.

"Obviously there are people who would like to give Simon a bloody nose. Well, this way all they'll be doing is starving a charity of cash if they campaign against it. Nothing has been decided for definite but everyone is very keen on the idea."

In 2009, Simon was left red-faced after Rage Against The Machine's track Killing In The Name beat Joe McElderry to the number one spot following a campaign to keep The X Factor off the top of the chart.

Gemini:

Someone will steal credit for your work, which is maddening. Drawing attention to the problem will only make you look petty. You're better off accepting the situation with quiet dignity and grace. Move on to the next assignment, but make sure to sign your name to every piece of work that is submitted. Tell your boss what you are doing on a regular basis. You'll sound like a pest, but at least it's better than getting stabbed in the back.More
