The X Factor has won the latest round of the television ratings battle after beating its Strictly Come Dancing rival.
A peak audience of 11 million viewers tuned in to watch the singing competition on Saturday night on ITV1 and ITV1+1, the broadcaster revealed.
The reality show secured an average of 9.9 million viewers on both channels, making it the most watched programme on any channel last night, ITV said.
In comparison, Strictly drew in a peak audience of 10.5 million, with an average of 9.1 million, the BBC said.
However, the dance show did win a 46.5% share of the audience at its peak viewing time, while the X Factor gained a 45% share.
A spokesperson for the BBC said: "We are delighted that Strictly was the most watched show in terms of audience share on Saturday night, with a peak audience of 10.5 million."
