Xmas net murder plot for Hollyoaks

India Longford (Beth Kingston) is killed by her date

Hollyoaks is to screen a chilling plot at Christmas in which a character is murdered by her internet date.

Shockwaves will reverberate through the village when India Longford's dead body is discovered after she heads off alone to meet a mystery man she contacted through a dating website.

The plot kicks off when rebellious Tex Longford (Bianca Hendrickse-Spendlove) turns to the internet to find a date for the festive season, despite the disapproval of her sensible sister India (Beth Kingston).

India agrees to chaperone the date, but is left jealous when she sees how attractive her sibling's new companion is.

She arranges a chaperoned internet date of her own, but when she receives an apologetic text from her suitor asking her to join him elsewhere, she ignores her own advice and sets off by herself to meet him.

She is later attacked in a dark alleyway after the assailant utters the words: "Your profile didn't do you justice."

The teen soap's series producer Paul Marquess said the programme would highlight the dangers of hooking up with strangers online.

Actor Jeff Rawle - known for his roles as long-suffering George Dent in Drop The Dead Donkey and Amos Diggory in Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire - has been cast in the part of the murderer.

The episode featuring India's murder will be broadcast on December 23 at 6.30pm.
