The actor felt he had to jump on a jet and fly to Rio to celebrate with gymnast fan Simone Biles and her teammates.

Zac Efron was as nervous as he's ever been as he waited to meet Olympic gymnast Simone Biles in Brazil on Tuesday (16Aug16).

The teenager went public about her huge crush on the actor as the Games began in Rio de Janeiro, revealing she had a lifesize cut-out of the High School Musical hunk in her bedroom that she likes to smooch.

Multiple medal winner Biles was thrilled when Zac learned all about her devotion and reached out to her via social media to wish her well as she competed, revealing he would be watching her on TV.

And bosses at America's Today show made her dreams came true on Tuesday when they secretly flew Efron to Brazil for a face-to-face meeting with his number one fan.

Zac was more than happy to be part of the fun - until just before he stepped out to stun a speechless Simone.

"They (U.S. gymnasts) won gold medals, they were crushing it the entire Olympics, and I was, like, hiding in a closet waiting to come in, so I didn’t know what to think," Efron told Today on Wednesday (17Aug16). "I was getting nervous myself, but it ended up being so sweet."

And now he's a huge fan of Biles and her teammates, adding he felt compelled to hop on a plane bound for Rio, "Their story just blew my mind. When I found out Simone and this team were fans, I was like, 'What kind of guy am I if I don’t show up?'"

The girls have also turned the actor into a gymnastics fan after admitting he didn't really pay attention to the sport before the 2016 Olympics: "They have such heart and there was clearly something special."

And it seems his meeting with starstruck Simone was a big deal for him too - he tweeted shot of himself with the Olympians on Tuesday, and captioned it: "My Olympic dream came true."
