Zara Phillips pregnant

Zara Phillips, the granddaughter of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II, is expecting her first child with her husband Mike Tindall.

The granddaughter of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II is married to rugby player Mike Tindall and Buckingham Palace announced the happy news today.

According to a statement, in which Zara's married name was used, the child will be born in 2014.

"Mr and Mrs Mike Tindall are very pleased to announce that Zara Tindall is expecting a baby in the New Year," the statement said.

"The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips, Mr Phillip and Mrs Linda Tindall, and members of both families are delighted with the news.

"This baby will be the first child for Mike and Zara and the third grandchild for the Princess Royal."

Zara, 32, and 34-year-old Mike married at Canongate Kirk in Scotland in July 2011.

This exciting news comes shortly before the birth of Britain's Duchess of Cambridge's baby with husband Prince William.

The royal couple's new arrival is expected in the next few days.
