Zsa Zsa husband drops governor bid
Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband Prince Frederic von Anhalt has ended his bid to be California governor to tend to his ailing wife.
Gabor's publicist John Blanchette said von Anhalt was dropping out of the race to care for his 93-year-old wife, who was admitted to hospital last month with a broken hip. They have been married 24 years.
Political independent Von Anhalt, 65, a flamboyant Los Angeles socialite and Gabor's eighth husband, said his wife wanted to be California's first lady, but added: "With the recent accident and her ill health, she must now be first lady for me."
Von Anhalt announced his independent candidacy in February with a platform that included legalising and taxing marijuana and prostitution and lifting the import ban on Cuban cigars.
He now plans to support Democratic candidate Jerry Brown.
