Rory McIlroy surprises 9-year-old superfan on Late Late Toy Show
They say you should never meet your heroes - but this reaction from a young superfan when he came face-to-face with Rory McIlroy - proves that completely wrong.
Rory McIlroy made a 9-year-old fan's dreams come true as he surprised him on RTE's classic Christmas Late Late Toy Show in Dublin.
Charlie Smyth (9) was playing McIlroy's video game and was telling host Ryan Tubridy about the golfer's glittering career - of which the youngster was incredibly well-versed in.
He is talking about questions he would ask McIlroy - when the host tells him, 'Why don't you ask him yourself?".
The child slowly turns around and beams a huge smile as the Holywood golfer walks out on stage.
And if meeting his hero wasn't enough - McIlroy then signed and gave him copies of his video game.
As well as tickets for him and his family all week at the Irish open in 2017.
He gives the youngster the following advice.
"Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do anything - believe in yourself."
