Belfast Children's Festival launch warns NI arts scene is in a 'state of collapse'
The arts scene in NI is in imminent danger of collapse, it was warned today.
Ali Fitzgibbons was speaking at the launch of the 17th Young at Art Belfast Children's Festival.
Ali, who is organising the festival, said: "The Stormont Executive need to start thinking what is they actually want and do they want to protect an artistic future.
"We can't actually pay the rent; we can't pay staff; we can't pay artists.
"Most of our turnover we raise from 32 different funding sources. We can't keep doing that.
"As things stand the collapse of the arts scene in NI is imminent."
The festival runs from March 6-13 and offers a wide range of events at venues across the city.
