Local artists are currently exhibiting alongside some of the biggest names in street art, including Banksy, in the Ulster Museum.

Street Art, a major touring exhibition from the V-amp;A Museum opened on December 9 and four local street artists have been specially selected to create pieces of art for the Tags and Labels exhibition which will run alongside the touring show. The works will showcase local street art talent through large scale installations, photographs and both traditional and digital mediums.

Kim Mawhinney, Head of Art at National Museums NI, said: "We are amazed at the quality of the submissions ... it's unlike anything we have offered our visitors before and we hope it will attract lots of interest from our younger audiences."

One of the local artists featured is Marian Noone aka 'Fritz', who is part of SPOOM Collective, a group of artists who frequently collaborate on large scale murals. She said: "It's a fantastic opportunity to be exhibiting in such a prestigious gallery."

Other selected artists are, 'KVLR' (pictured above), 'Lucas' and 'Doc', all from Belfast.

One of the selectors, Adam Turkington from Seedhead Arts, said: "Street art takes very specific local issues, social tensions and architecture and places them within the context of a global movement."

Edgy, inventive and a real representation of popular street culture, it's a very different, lively and fun show.
