Review: Diane Spence unleashed a "tsunami of filth"

Diane Spencer brought tales of "the human experience" last night. "It just happens to be a disgusting one," said the X-rated raconteur, who seems to have 'experienced' mainly heavy drinking and kinky sex.

Unleashing a torrent of scatologically-based storytelling, Spencer certainly lived up to the festival programme's promise of "a tsunami of filth".

One audience member collapsed in fits of giggles every few minutes, gasping incredulously: "It's so outrageous!"

Spencer's schtick is that she's a Disney princess with a potty mouth. But when the shocked laughter had died down, we weren't left with much of substance to take home.

Spencer clearly is a talented writer, but the repeated recourse to smut for its own sake became numbing.
