Review: The Jungle Book

Lyric Theatre, Belfast, Wednesday, July 20 until Sunday, August 14, Various times

Everyone knows the story of Mowgli the man cub, who has grown up in the jungle with Baloo the bear and most are familiar with the Disney film, its cute |animation and catchy songs.

But the original story of lost boy Mowgli comes, of course, from Rudyard Kipling, and it’s to this, rather than Disney, that the Lyric remains faithful. Neil Duffield has adapted the story for the stage, and music maestro Conor Mitchell has written the score.

This beautifully staged musical adaptation, performed through a dazzling blend of theatre, songs, puppetry and movement, is directed by Richard Croxford, and should prove popular with little cubs aged six and over. See www.lyrictheatre.co.uk
