Sinead's a Brass act

Sunday, 4 December 2011

Sinead O'Kelly enjoys jazz and songs from the shows, which is why the young lady - studying to be an opera star at the Royal College of Music in London - is delighted to return to Belfast on Saturday, December 17 to appear with Alan Corry and his Festival Brass at their Christmas concert in Glenmachan Church (7.30pm).

A former pupil at Aquinas Grammar, where she sang and played cello in the orchestra, Sinead has an LLCM in classical singing and has worked with youth drama group MT4Uth who put on Godspell at the Opera House in her home town.

"My favourite role is Fantine in Les Miserables and I sang it in Peter Corry's production in the Theatre at the Mill in Mossley, Newtownabbey," says Sinead.

"I have sung solo with the Armagh City Choir and they have invited me back next year to sing the role of Dalila in their 25th anniversary celebration production of Samson by Handel.

"I am looking forward to performing with Festival Brass again - they're so much fun to work with and such a dynamic group!" On the bill too will be Kieran Griffiths and the Open Arts Community Choir.

You can catch up with Festival Brass tonight (7.30) at the Christmas concert of King's Chorale in Fisherwick Presbyterian Church.
