Passing through Holywood the other day I noticed the Whalley Gallery was displaying some interesting pieces by Graham Knuttel.
The artist has now turned his hand to decorating ceramics . The new design collections — Girl’s Best Friend, Red Sky at Night, The Hurricane Hotel, Siren and Fish — have been applied to basic white china plates, serving platters, cups and saucers.
These themes are important to Knuttel. He says he paints the Fish “so you can relax and enjoy their world which is ever-changing”. Each collection involves one painting, different sections of which are applied to the various ceramic pieces.
Then the complete image is applied to one large platter which has been produced in a limited edition of 200. Graham will be at the opening of the exhibition tonight and will sign each platter bought.
