Weird and warped... but still absolutely wonderful
CELEBRATING its 40th anniversary, Christopher Luscombe's version of the Rocky Horror Show burst into town in full hardcore party mode.
When newly-engaged wholesome couple Brad and Janet's car breaks down and they are introduced to Dr Frank N Furter their eyes are opened to a whole new world leading them to new experiences, opening their minds and losing their innocence.
Classic poptastic catchy tunes like Sweet Transvestite, Damn It Janet and the energetic Time Warp had lively members of the audience singing and even jiving in the aisle.
A few familiar faces and voices featured amongst the cast members, including Ben Foster from Jesus Christ Superstar as Brad and well-known West End star Oliver Thornton as Frank N Furter.
The winning combination of sci-fi, horror, comedy and music means something for everyone – although it's not suitable for the kids!
The full-on light show and production was a real spectacle.
A fresh take on a four-decade musical institution, with ostentatious, outrageous characters, and fabulously flamboyant costumes, each scene was filled with fun, keeping us all in absolute hysterics, entirely engrossed with screams of laughter and moments of unadulterated humour.
A blissful two hours of escapism, the Rocky Horror Show rocks on.
