I am on prescribed drugs amitriptyline and Prozac and I suffer from tiredness and muscle pain, which is a vicious circle. Is there anything that may help me get a restful sleep?

Studies have shown that a new food supplement called Asphalia contains low doses of melatonin that help to maintain a healthy sleep and result in the user reaching REM sleep faster than other sleeping tablets, promoting good sound sleep patterns without the side effects.

Asphalia is produced in a Welsh valley from entirely natural plant materials chosen for their high antioxidant profile.

It helps maintain a healthy lifestyle as part of a normal diet, improves the state of natural sleep, fights off the free radicals which otherwise cause premature aging, and improves general appearance.

I am a 53-year-old man and have had ulcerative colitis for several years - I have had steroid injections and tablets, but they do not seem to ease the pain. Can you recommend something to help ease my symptoms?

I suggest you avoid tap water, salt, sugar, spices, alcohol, pork products, citrus fruits, sweets, chocolates, white sugar, flour, butter, and nicotine.

Minerals such as iron, magnesium, potassium and zinc are greatly needed, so change to a good multivitamin and mineral supplement if you are not taking this already.

Eat soya, brown rice, millet, sesame seeds, and sprouted seeds.

I also suggest you take 15 drops of Centaurium in a little water before meals. This should be sipped and held in the mouth before swallowing. Take one tablet of Enzymes twice a day, and 10 drops of Bowel Essence twice daily in acute cases.

I would appreciate if you could advise me on foods that would trigger off sinusitis.

It is advisable for sinusitis and rhinitis sufferers to go through an elimination process in order to determine the offending factors in their diet.

The majority will discover that they have an allergy to one or more dairy products. Cow's milk can be substituted with goat's milk or soya milk.

Sufferers should remember to increase the use of honey, but reduce salt, spices, alcohol and coffee. Introduce oats and fruit and vegetable juices to the diet.

Garlic is also an excellent food because of its antibacterial properties.

My husband suffers dreadfully from psoriasis. His feet, legs, back, chest, groin, elbows, face, scalp are red, scaly and very flaky. He is constantly feeling discomfort. His condition has improved after having some light treatment at the hospital, but there is a long waiting list for him to go back. Is there anything you could suggest that is readily available?

Making dietary changes and using several other complementary therapies, such as light treatment, can be of benefit for psoriasis sufferers.

I suggest your husband avoid animal proteins in his diet, especially pork, which is very acidic. He should also reduce his intake of salt.

I often recommend Indian Pills and Anduvite at a dose of one capsule daily, and Evening Primrose Oil at a dose of three 500mg capsules last thing at night.

The external use of an ointment called Ung P applied to the skin can also help to alleviate irritation.
