Jan answers your health questions
I have trouble sleeping. Do you have remedies you might be able to
suggest? I am 80 years old and they say at my age I don't need much sleep,
but some nights I don't sleep at all.
There is a product called Asphalia which is produced in a Welsh valley and
is made entirely from natural plant materials chosen for their high
antioxidant profile. Studies have shown that Asphalia contains low doses of
melatonin that help to maintain a healthy sleep and result in the user
reaching REM sleep faster than other sleeping tablets promoting good sound
sleep patterns without the side-effects.
I have nasal drip, and have had for a number of years. It was annoying
but now for about a year it has started to 'glue up' and my hearing is
impaired. I steam regularly and it helps to clear things for a while. I
wondered if Plantago would help?
Plantago is a herbal remedy that helps with catarrhal/sinus conditions, ear
problems such as recurrent infections and tinnitus. It helps to strengthen
the ear, nose and throat tract and I am sure you will find this to be of
help, together with Euphorbium Nasal Spray, one squirt up each nostril twice
a day. You should also try to avoid white flour, sugar and dairy foods in
your diet, as these are the main culprits for catarrhal conditions.
For the past four years, every time I go on holiday I come back with
cellulitis caused through midge bites. The last time it took 11 months for
my legs to clear up. Is there anything else that might help me please? I
have tried midge/mosquito sprays but they do not work.
Cellulitis is an inflammation of the connective tissue underlying the skin,
caused by a bacterial infection. We would often recommend Echtrosept to be
taken internally in liquid tincture or tablet form. This is a natural remedy
to help support the body's defences. You could also try putting a few drops
of PoHo Oil behind the ears and knees, and sprinkling a few drops on to your
bed sheets and pillows at night to deter the insects.
I have had facial hair on my chin for about 20 years but have managed to
apply cream on the affected area every few days, which removed the hair.
However, my skin is now becoming inflamed and sore and despite changing the
cream it is having little effect. By chance I happened to be reading an
article on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and one of the effect of this condition
was facial hair. I am very embarrassed about going to see my GP about the
hair growth and I wondered if you could help me?
I appreciate that the facial hair is embarrassing but if there were an
underlying cause such as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome then it would be best to
make an appointment with your GP who may arrange for you to have further
investigations. In the meantime, you could try Agnus Castus at a dose of 15
drops in a little water, 2 to 3 times daily, as this exerts a balancing
effect on the female sex hormones.
