Jan answers your health-related questions
I have undergone a second abdominal operation for adhesions caused by
previous surgery. As I do not want to keep having surgery, as this increases
the risk of more adhesions every time, I was wondering is there anything I
can do or take that may decrease my risk of a recurrence of this painful
condition?
For quick healing I would suggest flaxseed oil at a dose of 3 x 500mg
capsules last thing at night, increase your vitamin C intake up to 2g daily
and take some Zinc.
I was wondering if you could help me with stress incontinence? I have
been given pelvic floor exercises to do, which I do faithfully twice a day
but I would like to speed things up a little as this problem makes me very
embarrassed and depressed.
Continue with the pelvic floor exercises as these will help to strengthen
the pelvic floor muscles, which hold the bladder and urethra in place. You
could also take some Galeopsis as it contains large amounts of silica. By
supplying silica, Galeopsis can help to strengthen the tissue of the pelvic
floor, which needs high levels of silica to remain strong.
I have a few health problems but most recently I was told I had slightly
high blood pressure. I do not wish to take medication for this and would
rather try to bring it down naturally. What would you recommend?
You could take Crataegus (Hawthorn) as it has a balancing effect on blood
pressure, making this a useful remedy whether blood pressure is high or low.
For the best results this should be taken over a period of six months to be
effective.
I have a wound on my leg after falling on a bed of brambles feeding my
wild birds. I am having it dressed every other day but it is not healing
well. Is there anything I can take to speed things up?
You may wish to take some vitamin C (1-2g) daily as well as Zinc to aid the
healing process. In addition, apply some Manuka Cream to the affected area
morning and evening. This has excellent healing properties and will help
prevent infection.
