Ballyclare Festival results

SHARON McConville from the Irene McCann School of Dancing in Portadown was the first major winner in the opening day of Ballyclare Folk Dancing Festival when she carried off the Minor Championship.

Nicola Mitchell from the Royal Tara School, Carrickfergus was runner-up while Charlotte Higgins from the Ollar School in Ballyclare was awarded the Hunter Cup for the best placed local by the adjudicator Dominic Graham.

Results: Open reel under seven years: 1 and Festival Committe Shield: Johanna Johnston (Royal Tara); 2 tie, Ciara McCarronn (McCann) and Jenny Woodside (Dempsey).

Light double jig under seven years: 1, Katie McDonald (McCann); 2, Joanna Johnston.

Single jig under seven years: 1, Marianne O'Toole (Glenarna); 2 tie, Danielle O'Loan (McCann) and Jessica Carty (Aisling) Novice reel under seven years: 1, Charlotte Hall; 2, Georgina Robinson (both Ollar).

Boys any dance under seven years: 1, Dylan Murphy (McCann); 2, Morgan Owens (Royal Tara).

Non prizewinners reel under seven years: 1, and Ollar Cup: Niamh Horan (Donnelly); 2, Dylan Murphy.
