ONE HALF of Ulster's best-known culinary couple put in her last public
ONE HALF of Ulster's best-known culinary couple put in her last public appearance today...
Jeanne Rankin joined her husband Paul to receive the Lunn's Award for Excellence at the Waterfront Hall.
But she had bigger things on her mind _ like the birth of her third child, due today.
The Excellence honour recognises those 'who have put a lot into Northern Ireland,' say the organisers.
The panel of external judges opted for the couple from around 40 suggestions from the public.
Last year, the first year of the Ebel co- sponsored Excellence awards, the title was lifted by local celebrities Mary Peters, Sean Rafferty and Ulster Carpets supremo Mike Mills.
'It's great that Jeanne should want this to be her last public appearance before giving birth,' said organiser Lisa Dougan.
'The Rankins were chosen as they have put so much into Northern Ireland and put it centre stage.
'We are thrilled that they have won this year, and thrilled that she is due to have another baby today.'
